Daughter's second birthday
First up is writing my about my daughter's second birthday party. She turned two years old about a week ago. I started planning her birthday party basically after her first birthday ( yes I am a early planner. ) I actually started with trying to come up with some different ideas to do for her birthday. I decided to go with a Breakfast at Tiffany's theme. It was so much fun planning it. Then I set the budget for it. I think we probably paid just for the party itself, not counting what we paid on gifts, was about $200 to $300 just on the party. We spent like a little over $300 on gifts just from us (her mommy and daddy) and yes I know what some are thinking why would you spend that much on your child's birthday gifts. Well she is our only daughter and she is our daughter and we choose how much we want to spend on her gifts. Most of the things we got went with each other. Like we got her the Vtech activity desk and got some of the little accessories that goes with it. We got one of those leapfrog tablet like things that takes those books. And yes we got some of those books. I think that probably added up the price on everything lol. We also got her a Vtech carriage and cottage toy and a disney princess doll and some doc mcstuffin stuff. She has enjoyed every single one of those. I also think that we go a little over board on her birthday gifts as we knew she would not be getting that may gifts as there would hardly be anyone that would show up.
Okay, enough about her gifts. I just loved the Breakfast at Tiffany's theme I was so much fun to plan and put together. I started with buying up decorations in January (the one raise why I like to start planning on parties as once you start early the easier and little stress free planning vs the waiting until like a week or two before the party to get started on it). I also made some of the birthday party decoration. But some we bought. I found a cute little home decoration of the Eiffel Tower at Hobby Lobby ( no Hobby Lobby is not given me anything to mention them in this blog) that I used for a center piece by the cake. I also made one of those suckers topiary thingy and put it by the cake also (yes the cake was the main center piece on the kitchen table). We decided on to have the party at home instead of renting a building (was cheaper that way but to let you on in a little secret her third party will not be held at home lol ). Then I got the stuff to make some birthday party invitations. They was so easy to make. I just got a blue blank note cards and some write sharpie pen that showed up very good on the blue and and black sharpie to also to do the writing on it. The rest of the decorations was pretty much balloons.
The week leading up to the party I spent cleaning the house up really good (the reason why it will not be held at home next year lol) and I also started making the balloon topiary that I wanted to do. I tell you want next time I will also get a helium tank to balloon up blows as it was a pain in the butt balloon them up. But I would do it all over again to make my little girl happy for her birthday. I started the decorating on Friday so that way I would not have so much to do on the day of her party.
The day of her party we got up and started with putting the plastic dishes I got for the food out and everything ( another little secret I burnt the little smokies, made me mad at myself and sad also as I was looking forward to them lol) Then we went and got the cake and then daddy went and got pizza and some chicken fingers like a hour and half before the party and then everyone started showing up. Which this year we had only invited like our parents and siblings and our nieces and nephews and their little families (well the ones that are old enough to have families lol, yes we have nieces and nephews that are in the 20s and has kids ) Only a few of those that we invited showed. Some was not able to come due to being sick or no gas money or they had to work to. And then there was couple that we have no reason why they did not show up. But it is all good we all had fun.
I also took her birthday photos myself. I found a cute black dress on Amazon that was so prefect and took her pictures. I also found a photography backdrop (from the wish app ) that has the Eiffel tower on it and I took her pictures. I think I spent a total of $80 on all that so I was so much cheaper to do her photos myself instead of paying someone for it (plus I am a photographer myself so it was a win win lol)
Here is a few pictures of her party. Isn't her cake so cute. Also not pictured is the punch I made that I found on Pinterest that turned out so good. I took the Hawaiian punch drinks (the lemonade and a berry blast and mixed them together) it was so yummy.
That is it for now. I will try to post more later.
